  • REVIEW – This “resort” was apparently damaged during Hurricane Harvey, and at the time of our visit, was still rebuilding (over a year later)
  • Pros –
  • Friendly staff took reservation.
  •  It’s an easy on and off from I-10.
  •  It has a cute little private fishing lake.
  • All of the utilities worked.
  • Cons –
  • The office is still not rebuilt, so a host met us when we came in and directed us to our site.  We were overnighting and got a “pull through” spot.  Unfortunately, we had turned left toward the office when we entered the park, and the pull-throughs were on the far end in the opposite direction, so we drove the entire length of the park twice.  Through potholes deep enough to make us worry about damaging the RV.
  • The pull-through site was just a spot on a gravel lot with hookups.  No slab, no grass.
  • Sites are very close together, and the pull-throughs are so short that our neighbors with motorhome and a pickup had the pickup blocking the road behind the sites.

Overall impression:  Adequate for an overnight stop, but overpriced for the condition it’s in.

  • REVIEW – This is an out of the way park about 10 minutes North of Andrews. Take Main Street North out of Andrews and look for the park sign.  The park is a nice one night stop over and beats Wally World. It is basically a large pea gravel parking lot with a power pedestal, sewer hook up and water outlets. All of the hook ups appear to be just several months old. Large area to pull a big rig in and plenty large enough for any size coach and their toad and/or trailer. Not a garden spot but clean and quiet.

  • REVIEW – Our RV site was #2  The campground includes pull through (50-70 feet in length), many 40′ sites – some with low hanging trees.  The lakeside sites are very nice and the grounds are kept mowed, beaches on the lake, good fishing, Staff is helpful and very nice.  It is exceedingly quite at night. Much wildlife on the park grounds. We counted 15 deer in one group. Most pads seem quite level. There are sites that have a screen room in addition to the RV Pad. Water is quite good, power pedestals show some wear, check voltages before plugging in or have an on board or plug in EMS.

REVIEW – This a very nice place. It’s quiet (after 10pm or so there is a highway near), you can be on the beach side or the bay side. Our site was number 27 and we were told that this end of the campground stayed dryer in wet weather and it was raining when we arrived and for the next two days. In each campground loop on the ocean side there is a restroom/shower facility. They were very clean.  Dumpsters are also provided near the restrooms. Beach access is less than 150 yards from you on the ocean side. You can see the shrimp boats and freighters commuting across the horizon from your parking spot.  All camping spots on the ocean side were back in’s which in our case was desirable because we have a coach and the view from the front widow was very good. If the campsites had sewer hook ups we would have given the park a 5/5.  Shopping is 7 miles away in Galveston where there are large grocery stores and Walmart. If  you like night life there is “The Strand” in Galveston with bars, breweries, wineries, restaurants and even an old time confectionary with extraordinary candies and a soda fountain. The Strand Historic District, also known as the Strand District, in downtown Galveston, Texas (USA), is a National Historic Landmark District of mainly Victorian era buildings that now house restaurants, antique stores, and curio shops. … It is widely considered the island’s shopping and entertainment center.

  • REVIEW – Mom and Pop place in the city of Van Horn. Large parking lot like appearance but we were in West Texas where all parks match this description. Easy off and on I-10 and into and out of the RV Park. Owner is a nice guy and very helpful. You are in walking distance of the only restaurant in town which is at the El Capitan Hotel. We did not eat there but I was told the food was good but expensive. The park is all graveled and can be dusty when the wind blows.
  • Travelers hint – If you need fuel avoid Loves Truck stop. It is a really hard to get on the highway there after fueling. It seems there is a second entrance on the I-10 ramp. Truckers just keep getting in line for fuel blocking the ramp entirely. There is a second on ramp just west of the truck stop.

Great staff and quiet people wise. Highway is near an is somewhat noisy. Site 18 has great access from the park to the highway.

  • REVIEW – Small park, right on the lake. The 50 A FHU pull through sites are the worst situated, with no view of the lake and right next to the highway. There are some sites that have nothing between you and the lake. I’m guessing they book up fast. We were in Site 15, which is a water/electric site with 30A service. It was at the back of the park and had an obstructed view of the lake. Our driveway was paved and about 100 feet long. It wasn’t as level as we’d have liked for our 40 foot MH. We ended up building extra steps out of our plastic blocks to be able to get in and out of the door. We had a lot of shade — which would be great in the summer, but we were wishing for a little solar heat when we were there during record cold temps. We were there in early November and the park was really busy on the weekend, but quiet during the week. This park is nicely maintained. We didn’t check out the rest rooms, so can’t comment there. It is easily accessible to attractions in Waco. It was quiet, except for some roaring jet engines every once in a while. We would go back.
