  • REVIEW – Great park. Beautiful lake with good fishing but the lake is contaminated with DDT so you cannot take fish even if you wanted them. Sites are mostly level but if you have a coach or fiver that is bigger than forty feet (select sites) you may have a problem leveling front to back. Restrooms are very clean and smell clean. Water pressure is 40#. Dumpsters dispersed throughout the campground. Each site has a Casita with a small refuse can.

  • REVIEW –  Pro’s – The first (lowest loop) is boondocking and has water available. The next two loops have water and power. These loops almost brand new with nice bath house. Each site in the second two loops have it’s own  casita and picnic table and power and water in those loops is at every site is at every campsite along with power. with level and mostly level sites. Pick your site carefully to insure your rig will fit. We were on site 15 in the Juniper Loop. This area has not been renovated, the toilet/shower is not working but we drove to the other shower houses to shower each day so big deal.
  • Con’s – Dog waste pick up stations don’t have bags (there is a place for them) just a waste receptacle. Check in is a mystery, no attendants at the check in office with signs saying “Off Duty.” The same applies to the visitors center, nobody home. How do you deal with it? Register online, pay online and come in and go to your site. The site placards are updated daily so if you have registered you will have a tag on your site with your name on it.

A word of caution, do not take a site close to the dump station, they flat out stink.

  • REVIEW – We loved Elephant Butte. It was clean, convenient to the city of Elephant Butte and Truth or Consequences. Not a lot of grocery shopping options but there is a Walmart in T or C. Good hiking near, beautiful desert lake. Sites are not all level but they are big. They are separated by vegetation though not strictly private. Water pressure was 40-45# but the water smelled and tasted of iodine (it was safe though). Two dumpsters on each loop, recycle plastic and aluminum. Each site had a paved area with your own casita and fire pit. If you require a handicap site they are first come, first serve and cannot be reserved.

  • REVIEW – 122 sites available, clean, concrete roads and gravel pads. Near an airport so aircraft noise, well lighted (maybe too well lighted if you like it dark when you sleep), friendly owners. Roswell offers a lot to do including the UFO museum. We were unfortunate enough to have a late arrival (11:30 Pm) come in next to us and he banged and clanged around for 30 minutes. I would call this place anything special, it is ok for a few days and reasonably priced.

  • REVIEW – Interesting park and the site of Poncho Villas famous raid on Columbus New Mexico, interesting museum on site and if you pay for camping your entry to the museum is free. The site is where the military’s first airfield was built and also home to the first mechanized Army unit the 13th Calvary commanded by General Pershing. Sites are large, each has water and electric. You are three miles from the Puerto Palomas entry and exit to Mexico/United states. Park is safe and quiet.
